Beaufort AGAIN...!!!

No No No.... not that I like white water rafting so much and that I visted Beaufort again. No No No!!!! It is not a HOLIDAY visit...

I was not feeling very well on saturday and therefore, I stayed at home the whole day. Yes...althought it is a small apartment. I didn't manage to attend the Girls' Brigade meeting which I was suppose to attend. I was just at home, resting and trying to sort out some of my personally thing. At least I found out that some of my insurances expired and some is still moving on and some need to paid this month, etc. Well, ... while I was sorting out all these, I received a phone call. A good friend who lives in Singapore called, said she and her husband arrived in Kota Kinabalu. Shocked, but... kind of used to it. She's always like that... appear without prior notice. hahaha... but I am so glad that she is in town. She promised to meet me for drink that particular evening, but just before we confirm everything with each other, I received another phone call from another friend from Tawau. haha... well, I ended up went out with my Tawau friend instead beacuse my Singapore friend said she can't make it that evening. I had a great time.

Well, the next day... I went to church with my Singapore friends and we had a great time in that church. Thereafter, we sorted out something and we headed to Beaufort to visit a friend. We only came back to Kota Kinabalu that evening at about 12am. It is .... tiring, but I really had a good time.

This morning.... when I came in, I started to worry about my business for the coming month. I am trying to close a few cases in my hand now. I hope everything works fine and well. Praying hard for it.

August... I can't believe time run so fast... and it is August already...

Reminder...

During a conversation with a friend, I was reminded of one great work my mom used to do for my brother and I when we were young.

I was asking a friend if he is doing fine in college and he said he is fine and he has a lots of books to read. That reminds me of how much time I spent in my university library. Besides doing my assignments, reading law reports and articles and do online search, I also read some other books. While my mind wander back to my time in my university in England, my friend told me that Labuan do have a good 'looking' library. hahaha... and that reminded me of my younger days...

I am not someone love reading books. My brother loves the books. He can sit for an hour and finish books that he got hold in his hand. My mom used to take the efforts to brought us to the library in Tawau every Saturday morning. My mom didn't force me to read what my brother read, but she encouraged me to read as well, be it a cartoon book or not. As long as I found something I like to read. After we finished a few hours in the library, we will borrow some books back. And because of that, my brother finish almost every book in the library.

I am sure agree with me that, ... my mom really did a good job. Thanks, mom...

Water....

Few days ago, I was shocked to discovered that I do not have water in my apartment. But water did came back after a few hours. So, I tried my very best to wash all my clothes, plates, floor, etc... and managed to do that on the first day of water shortage. On the second day, on my way back to my apartment from office, along the staircase, I saw ants along my way up. I was wondering in my mind that, as long as it is not going into my apartment, that should be fine. When I turned to face my apartment, I saw the ants are actually moving into my apartment. With shocks, I open my apartment and discovered that, OH NO.... it's my dusbin...!!!! I tried to wash everything but my dusbin the night before when the water came back. So, I ended up clearning my apartment and I started to cook my dinner. I managed to do that and sat down for TV. After an hour plus, I realised that water again, gone. I sat there, with sweat ... wonder when would the water come back again. I called my friend and I ended up taken my shower at my friend's place. On my way back, I have no choice but to buy a big bucket. I stored up water when the water came back around midnight. Yesterday/ Last night, I saw a notice (a piece of small paper) placed at the main door saying that it is the Jabatan Air's problem. They are doing a maintenance and the water pressure is low, hence, shortage of water will occurs. Until when? well, I wanted to know either... they only said: until it is resolved. OH NO... don't tell me this is going to happen FOREVER...

Poor Service...

When I reached Kota Kinabalu, my partner asked which bank we should open our accounts with. I told her, it seems like this PB bank is good. She agreed and we went. However, this is what we were treated.

On the day of our opening of account, we were treated badly. All the staffs told us they are not free to help us with the opening because they need to 'entertain' their big boss from Kuala Lumpur. They asked us to come back another day. Which we did, upon being forced.

Upon their own delay, we were asking them a favour to issue us the cheque books a bit faster. That 'faster' is at the end, 4 days. Not only that....

As we need to issue a big amount of money to the Land Office, we were not able to issue cheques. Hence, I called them last Friday to ask them about the procedure to buy a bank draft and so on. The procedure, to me is ... a total nuisance. They made no convenient to their customers. They made it as if we buy the bank draft from other banks. So, we have decided not to buy bank draft with them ever. We are also thinking of changing bank just because of 2 incidences below: -

1. We need to print out something. I bought my notebook with me, so I asked if it is alright if they print for me, they said, OK. So... I took out my computer, and trying to save it to the thumb drive. I asked them if their computer can read thumb drive. They looked at me like they do not know what thumb drive is.

2. They called me yesterday telling me there's one bounce cheque. Asked me to go and collect. I went this morning. They so called, MANAGER asked me one stupid question. If the cheque is a house cheque. It is clearly another bank's cheque. What does he meant when he said House Cheque? Then I said, no. He acted like he doesn't believe me and asked, "may be this is your boss's signature". I look at him and said, "eh.. I am the boss" and... can you tell me why would I want to issue a cheque to myself? Then only he said: "oh sorry, I didn't notice".

Of these two incidence, I made one conclusion. Those working in this bank has a very low education standard. Mostly, they stayed in Kota Kinabalu for too long or they didn't use their brain everyday.

Honestly, I think their service is terrible and unacceptable.

Attitudes...

It was a few months ago. I was in still Kuala Lumpur then. After one of the car service at this service center ( I went there since the first time because it WAS very good service) at Petaling Jaya, near an LRT Station. By the way, my little blue is a dark blue Kelisa. At that service day, I told the service personnel that my radio cannot receive radio clearly. (What used of a radio if it cannot receive radio clearly?) and the person said they will check. That service day took me about 3 hours. I was alright with it since I requested them to check my radio for me. They took away my radio and told me that it needs about 2 to 3 weeks to repair. I happily left my radio with them and left. 2 weeks later, I heard noting from them. Therefore, I called them. They told me I could go there and collect it on that Saturday. I went, collected but I found that the radio conditions is WORSE than before. I told them, they said... I shouldn't expect too much from the manufacturer. I wasn't very happy about the comment but I was rushing to another place. Hence, I left. 2 weeks after that, I went back there and made the complain again... they said the same. Didn't even want to check for me. I was quite frustrated with their attitudes. However, I wouldn't want to go to other service center as I need to send my car to Kota Kinabalu then.

After 3 weeks of arrival in Kota Kinabalu, my car needed a service. I went to this service center near my house and the personnel took about 3 to 4 hours to service and also to check my radio for me. They have found that the previous service center has negligently made my radio cable broken. And that's why my reception is so poor. They knew it's not my fault because it's technical. The personnel told me they will replace the cable for me but I will need to wait for 2 weeks for the cable to arrive. Last week (exactly 2 weeks), they called me and said the cable is ready. So, I went to the service center today and got it fixed.

To be honest... same company, but attitudes of workers are so much difference. I was sitting there 2nd time, a few hours...today and I noticed that all of the service technician really do their job properly and they respond to my questions politely, with patience. They also explain every single problem with me so that we can solve it. The other one, ... in Kuala Lumpur... is ... !!!

GREAT holiday!!!

Yeah... after a 'forceful' persuasion, I was convinced to join 2 of my friends for White Water Rafting at Padas River near Beaufort, a town about 1 1/2 hours drives from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. We started the journey at 6am on Saturday morning and reached Beaufort at 7:30am. We went for breakfast before we head to our friend's place. Upon entering the house of my friend, we discovered that my friend's mother in law's were beaten by Scorpion. I saw the Scorpion laid on the floor. It is about 8cm to 10 cm long. It is in black colour. According to my friend's mother in law, the moment when she was beaten, her lips numbed and she almost fainted. But she cried out the name of Jesus and that's how she survived.

Thereafter, we went to get things done before we headed to the Train Station to the Start Point of Padas River.

We were waiting at the Train Station for about 20 minutes before we took a train to the start point of Padas River. We took not the ordinary train, but we took the train with the air-con. It's a 1 1/2 hours' train journey to the start point of the Water Rafting. This water rafting consists of 6 rapids as shown below: -


Honestly, it is a very nice and wonderful trip as everyone of us together with 3 others who were from Kuala Lumpur pedal the boat trying to conqueror all the rapids. It's fun as we were asked to jump into the river and learned body rafting and so on as well.

We really had a great time. After the water rafting, we also had the opportunity to visit some other places including Lawas, Sarawak and Sipitang, and so on. It's so wonderful!!!

On our way back to Sipitang to Beaufort, we bought some Crabs with only RM8 and upon reaching my place in Kota Kinabalu, a friend and I cooked the crabs. It's delicious ....

I truely enjoy the whole weekend.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse!!!

I am sure all the law student came across this phrase during their first year. Most of us heard it in Latin.

Driving in KK is so much 'suprises'. I personally have difficulties understanding the way drivers in KK drives their car. In KL, although it seems more dangerous to drives on the road, but those drivers at least has better skills. Here in KK, it is so different. I met 2 incidences this morning on my way to work. Firstly, a bus stop in the middle of TRAFFIC LIGHTS, yes... the cross road just to pick up people. I wonder what's he/she was thinking. Is there a Bus Stop sign in the middle of the traffic lights? How did he/she LEARNED to do that? The car behind this bus almost hit the bus. But after picking up the passanger, he drove very slowly to the bus stop just after the traffic lights. Secondly, I was waiting at the traffic lights (yes, a lot of traffic lights in KK) at the middle lane (3 lanes) and this car ("A") was in my left lane. The traffics light for those moving straight was green and so the middle land and the my left lane forwarded. Suddenly, the middle lane's cars stopped and low and behold, a car from the left lane was crossing to the right lane.

I know immediate rectification is good, but if it is through a wrong methods, it is not going to help and in fact, it causes danger to the others. Many people only know how to handle a good life, but very few know how to handle a difficult and challenging life. To many, venture to a challenging life is stupid. Well, I just want to remind you that, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Do not raise 'don't know' as your excuse. If you have made a mistake, do something 'legal' to bring yourself back and not 'illegal' way.

Characters...

Everyone has different character. My character is so much different from anyone else. Therefore, I was categorised as the 'unusual'/'abnormal' type of person. Most of the people do not like being with the 'unusual' people because they can hardly understand what the 'unusual' group is thinking. To many, 'unusual' is nothing good. They are strange and they do not deserve any 'special treatement'.

I happen to be an 'unusual' group because the way I act, the way I think, the way I handle thing is different from a 'normal' person. I was told by one sister lately that a group of my previous church members in Kuala Lumpur categorised me as 'unusual'. I am alright with the term because I am in fact, unusual in the sense that I am a better creation of God. Well, why would I say that?

1. Not many people has the privilege to be born in a really good, considerate, warm, loving family like the one I have.

2. Not many people has the privilege to be able to be educated not even academically, but also in their soul, mind and heart and I do.

3. Not many people has the privilege to face many failures as I do.

4. Not many people has the privilege to experiences as many miracles as I experienced.

5. Not many people has the privilege to experience as many hardship and endurance I had ever have.

etc. etc. ....

Those categorise me into this 'unusual' group is somewhat a group of person who has an 'usual' life. They are 'ordinary' and they think and act ordinarily. To me, they didn't lives their life to the fullnest YET. Well, ... I am not holding any grudge against them or their words. I am just thankful to be who I am regardless of what they call me or said about me.

We are just given different characters by the Lord!!!

Missing...

I had a very tiring work day yesterday and I had a tiring day today. Hence, when I was asked to go to Papar to attend a project with one of my client, I am very reluctant and feeling very tiring. However, I did went due to obvious reason: I DO NOT HAVE CHOICE.

I was in a reluctant mode, but during the journey, something made me making a smile on my face... that's my little niece's photo stored as wallpaper in my handphone. She is cute. She just had her 1st Birthday last week, 4th July 2006. hahaha... now that I thought of her, I feel so happy also. hahahaha....

Below the age of 18...

It's such a blessing where I found someone who is from Tawau that's familiar with one or two of the shopping centre here in Kota Kinabalu. The KK people wouldn't know what does a Tawau people is looking for in the city. The added point is that this friend is also came back from oversea and Kuala Lumpur. So, she brought me to a shopping centre, accompanied me to watch the 'Tokyo Drift". I happily bought 2 tickets, one with RM2 discount because my friend is a student still. I then went around the shopping mall trying to get what I need. Then we headed to the cinema. On the moment I entered the cinema, I saw many young people arounds. Obviously, I didn't doubt it until my friend told me that this movie is not suppose to be watched by those below the age of 18. I looked around the cinema and found that, 90% are below the age of 18. In front of me, were 3 kids aged between 6 to 11. Besides me also some young people aged around 16 to 17. I was shocked to know that the cinema personnel doesn't really bother about that. I asked my friend if this movie is really not suitable for those under the age of 18 (since this is her second time of watching the same movie), she was of the opinion that it better not to be watched by those under 18.

A cinema, operated in one of the BEST shopping complex in a city, the capital of Sabah and they are not following the instruction of the government and they obviously breached the law. Is the government, the custom, the authority is going to take any action against them?

Let's not talk about who will take action against who. Let's talk about those parents who bring their children into the cinema and watched movie like that. I just can't seems to understand the way the parents are thinking. May be they really taught their children well and that they are able to handle their emotions, etc... I am not judging their technic of upbringing a child. But I am just concern what these children will turn into for themselves, for the family, for this society. To many, these is not as serious as what I am of opinion of. However, I do have a research record said that most criminals committed crimes because of what they bear in them for years since their childhood. I guess, this... you can't deny. So, parents... if you do not know how to upbring your children, may be it is time to ask for help.

"Nuisance"

As promised, I am going to give you the definition of nuisance. Often, we heard people called another a nuisance. Nuisances are divided into private nuisance and public nuisance. A judicially approved definition of private nuisance is ‘an unlawful interference with a person’s use or enjoyment of land, or some right over, or in connection with it’. Examples of the types of interference that can amount to a nuisance includes physical damage to the plaintiff’s land or property on it (by flooding, vibration, collapse of neighboring buildings) and interference with the plaintiff’s comfort or convenience (through smells, dust, vibration, noise and even harassment from persistent unwanted telephone calls). To sue, of course many other factors such as abnormal sensitivity, duration of the interference, public benefit, malice, locality, nature condition of the land (if land is in issue) are to be considered and determined. For private nuisance, in theory, only the owner or occupier with an interest in the land affected can maintain an action.

Public nuisance has been defined as “an act not warranted by law or an omission to discharge a legal duty, which act or omission obstructs or causes damage or inconvenience to the public in the exercise of rights common to all Her Majesty’s subjects”( Stephen, Digest of the Criminal Law, 1883). It is more commonly known as “public rights”. Examples of the types of public nuisance are pollution, obstruction of the highway, dangers to the highway (dangers on the highway and dangers arising from premises adjoining the highway) and others.

Just by looking at the above, I am sure as a Malaysian, you would have think that the Malaysia government is not enforcing any law with regards to nuisance. The law does exist, but I think we, the Malaysian does not realize what sort of rights we have and even the authority does not know who breaks the law at most time.

The saddest thing for Malaysian and Malaysia Government is that we failed to input awareness of law and rights to the public. Therefore, we failed to control corruption, enforcing the law because we didn’t even know our duty to the others and public in general.
It is very sad to realize that Malaysia is putting a lot of efforts in dealing with immigration problems, i.e. illegal immigrant, refugee, asylum seeker, and others but we failed to educate our own citizen with the knowledge of their rights and law.

Improvement!!!

When you get older and older, especially after your univeristy, I guess most of us don't really wanted to improve ourselves. We would sit back and relax for the purpose of 'enjoying' our lives. This happen majority to female rather than male as the male sometimes is forced to improve themselves to catch up with the 'world' so that they can 'polish' their bosses shoes clean and shinny. I met a lot of people in KK ( I am not sure if KK represent the whole Sabah...but I would think so) are relaxing themselves with what they have. They are easily feel contented. Female will feel life is at the peak when they got married. Male will feel contented when they got married, have money and power in their work place. Then they will stop thinking to improve themselves.

That is the reason why the older generation is to be said: OLD FASHION!!!

I brought my little blue ( my lovely car) to the service centre this morning. I wanted it to be fixed nicely especially the stereo. I had difficulties receiving signals after my last service in KL. I did went back to the service centre in KL but the technician said : "Oh... out of 10 customer, 8 will tell me they have the problem, I can't do much about it. May be you can try changing the stereo to a better one?" I took his word but was not very convinced. Thereafter, my little blue sailed over South China Sea and came to Sabah. This is it's first service in the wonderful land of Sabah and therefore, I told the customer relations personnel that its stereo might need to be fixed. I waited in that centre for about 3 to 4 hours (they promise me should be 1 hour or so) and just before I lost my patience, this personnel came to me and said: "Miss, we finally found out what happen to your stereo. It is nothing wrong with your stereo, it is your antenna. I think, your previous technician didn't put your antenna to a right place and that caused it hit the air-conditioning operator and it is about to cut the antenna. It's so shocking to receive such news as it is truely the technician's negligence.

As I was reading a book entitle : Medical Negligence law in Malaysia, I had a lot of thought about negligence. But like what the book said, in Malaysia, not many people know who owns a duty of care of who. I bet not many Malaysian know what kind of duty they have for their 'neighbour' (Neighbour is defined in my previous blog) . Hence, you can see the law is not enforced well in Malaysia. As a prudent driver in the road, I believe many of us do not know what is our duty of care and who does we owe our duty of care to. I almost met a car accident if my friend didn't shout for me to stop the car. It's my way and this car came out from a small junction came out no matter how with my car just in front of him. He didn't even want to look at me. I didn't horn him or do anything thought because I was quite sure he saw me and that's why it never crossed my mind that I have to stop. Upon turning, the car was slowly driven by the driver. I guess he really has nothing to do this afternoon. I tried to follow the car patiently. When we turned to a 2 lanes highway, I was on the left and the car was on my right... when I just about to over take the car, the car suddenly moved to the left and almost hit me. I horned of course and he look at me without a smile, but holding a cigeratte with one of his hand and driving in a lay back position really made me frustrated and it's my friend who start scolding and wanting to know his car plate number, etc... I am calling the driver driving negligently, but I think, the driver does not know his duty to the other drivers and hence, he shouldn't be given a driving license at all. I call that driver driving in a reckless manner. I do not know what you call him, but I will say besides recklessness, he is a nuisance to the public, to the world.

What is nuisance? ... I will furnish you with this knowledge on my next blog...

But for now, I do hope you are not driving without knowing your duty of care to the public or your 'neighbour'. Improve yourself...

Disappointed!!!

Yes... my team is down... Now, my only hope is my 3rd choice.... France... I can tell, the final mostly will be between my 3rd and 4th choice (France and Italy). OH NO.....!!!! I lost all the fun ... but ... honestly, I felt so happy for Italy this morning... hahahaha... it's their spirit that touched my heart. I think they fight well. The Germans was struck down after the 1st goal and you can tell they have lost the spirit of fighting since then. It's so disappointing...!!!

Well, I am again trying to sort out wiring in this office. To network my printer and phones and so on. Thank God my knowledge is sufficient. hahaha...

Other than that.... I am sleepy...!!!!

Successor

Brazil honestly has disappointed me deeply. I still remember how Brazil captured my heart years ago. It's because of the way they play football. Of course, Pele also contributed to it either. If I am Pele, I am sure I feel very disappointed with the team.

However, ever since Pele, who else in Brazil that make another legend? It is not only football. In a company, in a family and even in a church, I think we forgot our responsibility to train our own successor.

When I leave FCC, this is one thing that I felt bad about. I failed to train someone to play the Bass guitar (although we do have a lot of them who know how to play). I failed also to train a good lawyer for FCC. I failed in many ways to pass what I know and learned to someone behind me.

I saw in church these few weeks that only a few churches trained some really good full time pastors. But the rest, they failed to see the needs now. I still remember years ago when I was young where my 'si fu' (teacher) told me that I need to know how to train up people and teach them everything I know. I guess as years go by and I forgot entirely about that teaching. I guess started from the year I left for England that I forgot that it's important to train up someone.

I am not sure how many of us would think of training someone to inherite your own ability. In one of the meeting last weekend, I was being reminded of my inheritance and 'family business'. I am not sure from which generation started that our family has started to serve the Lord full time. Many Rev. and Pastor is in our family. My dad is, my brother is, my cousin is, and so on and so forth. Obviously, my ancestor did fulfilled their responsibility. They trained their sons and daughters in following the Lord and His teaching. So, there is a duty for me to do now... that is to teach the next generation to follow the Lord and His teaching.

When this came into my mind last weekend, once again I asked the Lord of which area of ministry that He want me to get involve in. Youth? Children? Young Adult? I am still praying for the answer.

I really gladful that I subscribed to Astro because I didn't miss the World Cup matches yesterday. Suprisingly, it's not shown in the normal channel. Anyway, I stay up and finished up the whole match. Ops... to clarify... I am Germany fan. Don't try to ask me why. It just happen. Germany is my 1st team and Brazil is my 2nd. It's always like this since 1982 when I first know about world cup. So, I had a great time last night.

This morning, I was forced to woke up. Not sure who was the guy/gal that started to play a electric piano and sang since 7am. I guess he/she was suppose to have a singing competition today and that practising/opening his/her voice in this early morning is much needed? As I need to wake up early to prepare myself to go to a client's office, I woke up at that hour too. People and friends keep telling me that some client is difficult to deal with but I only experienced one of them this morning when this client refused to sign the Sale & Purchase agreement claiming that we photocopied it and not printing it out directly from a printer. Hence, he was asking for a discount in the disbursement. HAHAHA... to be honest, this is the greater joke I ever got in this profession so far. That particular of bill I passed to him is not of my own benefit/profit. It's for the stamping and submission of Real Property Gain Tax, etc... and the disbursement is for the transportation, printing, photostating, binding fees and... that fella is asking for a discount. I always wanted to ask him to give me a letter so that I can try my very best to ask the government to see if they will give discount. hahaha... anyway... he has no choice but sign and pay me at the end because otherwise, I won't be able to process the documents for him.

Well, ... after I came back from church in the afternoon at about 5pm, I started to cook something nice for myself. I can't believe that I cooked really tasty foods and I had it till I was so so so full. Thereafter, I made myself some really nice, home receipy dessert and I am going to have it later when I watch the world cup. hahahaha...

So, if you asked me what I do before I log in to write my blog, I was doing the appointment letter for my staff who is commencing work on Monday. Well, life is getting more busy but I am contented. It's so amazing when I re-count God's blessing over me. He is really really blessed me well for this month. Amazingly, I still survives prosperously... So, yes... thank you, Lord!!!
