1st Sunday

It's first sunday in England... and we were suppose to be at Birmingham yesterday and today but we have changed our plan to come to my aunt's place at Bury St.Edmund first and then go to Birmingham tomorrow. I always don't like to change plan at last minute but I guess sometimes, it's inevitable. Oh well, we will be going to church in 2 hours time... meanwhile, we are trying hard to reformat my aunt's computer as her computer has some problem. Well, as such... hehe.... yes, we are 'at work'....
Coming back to my aunt's place is like coming back home... everything is still the same and hehe.. it's HOME.... as she is planning to move back to Malaysia for good soon, after 30 to 40 years of staying in England, ghoosh... let me tell you, this might be the last time I will be feeling the 'coming home'.

End of 3rd day in England

It's 12:41am on 28th June 2008. We are at my friend's place at Nottingham. We managed to disturb them .... to the point, I broke the shower curtain... see... it has nothing to do with me.... it just fell off... really. Serious. hahaha... anyway...
After breakfast this morning, I went to collect a rented car near where we were staying and yes, I got myself lost after that for about 40 minutes and by the time I reached the hotel to pick up Annie, goodness... it's already 10:10am. Due to my negligence, ghoosh... I forgot that Annie doesn't know how to read the road map and we again got lost in London for another 30 to 45 minutes... and only by 11am something, we were on our way to where stonehenge is. Annie was very happy with her visit to stonehenge while I was walking around enjoying myself outside the site.
After Stonehenge, we travelled to Bristol. I did struggled whether to visit Bristol as we were late but we did. I went back to my University and I visited places I stayed before and goodness... Bristol is still the same ... and it makes me feels like I left the place only yesterday. Oh well, ... what can I say? I felt like "I am home". Hmm....
Oh well, I shall now divert you to my photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/peisanlin/England . I will update this photos site more often then my Blogger I think... so, yes, check that out.

England Day 1 : London

Ah ha... you are right... I am in London now. We arrived London at 6:15am this morning. The journey was alright... althought my nose was bleeding as usual... but to a more severe stage until I got shocked myself. Oh well, after we got our luggages and ourselves checked through the custom, we reached our B & B around 8am. After we got our stuffs packed to a small bag, we leave most of our luggages at the B & B as we couldn't check in until 12pm. With my camera and laptop behind my back for the whole mornign, goodness... I need a good massage .... (hehe... ) but too bad, my usual massage specialist not around... sob sob!!!! One more day in London and we will be heading to Bristol on our 3rd day and before Bristol, we hope to visit Stonehenge (as requested) and if nothing special came about, we shall be heading to Nottingham the same day.
As for today, we went first to Buckingham Palace, then to St.James Park (only passing by), then to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, then the Trafalgal Square. We will probably visiting some other places tomorrow, like Harrods, Tower Bridge, and some other shopping places althought I guess firstly, we will visit Greenwich tomorrow morning right after our breakfast. So, yes... for those of you who are wondering.... if you will be getting some souvenier from London.... we shall see, ok?
As for now, I guess that's the update for now.
Seriously.... "I wanna go home....!!!!!!!"

Leaving soon...

I am leaving for England tomorrow at 6pm. I still cannot get everything 'done' before I leave althought It has been for a month or so now that I didn't really take up any new cases except some which I have no choice of. Anyway... I guess not until the day I die, everything will remain unfinish. Looking at the cases on my table... and looking at the 4 cases that I have to attend tomorrow morning, it's amaze how much works I have ... and it worries me. I have no choice but to keep my phone's international roaming system on. No way to have a 'peaceful' holiday.. and I guess I need to learn how to enjoy 'holiday' with all sorts of phone calls.. I had a few experiences on that, but this round, it's going to be different because it will certainly means, I will most probably be waking up by phone calls in the middle of nights (due to time difference). Errr... I think I should warn my 'roommate' about this though.. hahah...!!! I did tried to inform my clients of my absent but that can only avoid the 'close' one not to call me... and I am sure still, that some will call me, either intentionally or accidentally. Hai...
Well, well, well... lets not focus on that. I shall now get my mind to focus on ... the trip. Otherwise, I am not focusing on what I should be doing in the next 3 weeks. Meanwhile, I really wanna thank my cell group. You are great and yes, I feel being 'sent' out by you now... thanks for all the supports... be it your prayer, your finances, your accompany these few days, etc... thanks... but please... continue to pray for us. I still have 2 sundays that I need to share with our linked church, St. Matthew about Christ Church Likas and what we learned during our stay. So, yes, pray for us.... Annie will be of course, she is asked to lead worship may be... anyway, we shall update you later... but we are preparing ourselves already.
Some of you do know I have short term memory loss lately... and yes... some of you do know also that I suffer this even more after a long hours of travel by air. So yes... I am putting everything down in paper... but still, I hope I don't forget things when I come back. hahaha... so, yes... pray for me!
Well, missing you all....

Finally...

Finally, internet connection in the office has resumed. Still, I cannot believe what I did and/or experienced yesterday. I was kind of frustrated with the 3rd day of internet disconnection and so, I decided to give them another call. The first lady who picked up the call asked me to wait for a 'short' while after questioned me a few very common questions like, whether I changed computer lately, whether we moved the devices, whether we changed telephone, etc. Yes, after a 'short' while of waiting, the line was cut off. Thanks to Telekom of course. To be nice to them, I called another time, the second person call Nazri answered my call, I guess it's their policy that they have to asked the same questions even thought I still think, they should put that report in the computer after the first lady spoke to me. Anyway, a 'wasting of time' method was used and again, I was asked the same questions, etc. etc.. until the stage where I have AGAIN being asked to wait for a 'short' while. Thank God line was not cut off before he came back to me telling me things that I have already know before hand. Oh well... he told me it is a TECHNICAL problem and they are fixing it at the moment and it will take 1 to 2 days to fix it. I make sure that he understand what I was trying to tell him again by telling that, it's the 3rd day since I first reported my TECHNICAL PROBLEM. He didn't give me any answer and the line again was cut off. Bravo! Amazingly, the Godly Lawyer called the 3rd time, isn't this amazing? ... well, I called the 3rd time, talked to another person... of course of course... the 'wasting of time' policy again... and I couldn't help it but scolded the guy 'kau kau'. Asked him if he can give me any solution to my PROBLEM if I manage to answer him all the questions he is going to ask. He was shock of course and I did explained to him that he is wasting my time and I have just used 40 minutes to call them ... and 30 minutes out of 40 minutes, I was waiting and yet none of them manage to solve my problem. Of course I did told him I know he shouldn't be getting all these from me but I said, I want problem to be solved now. He asked me to wait for a 'short' while again and also scolded him on that point. He pleaded for me to give him just 1 minute and low and behold, he just used 1 minute and told me the problem and that he said, he will make sure that they will get it fixed soonest possible. ... I am glad that someone called this morning to follow up the matter and we got the internet back.
Oh well, ... I am glad internet is back. There's too many things in the office that need internet access to make sure things are alright. We even do our company search, banrkrupcy search and other searches through the internet and ... phew... glad that everything is back to normal.

Frustration!!!

It started yesterday when I was in the Clinic to get my ear or rather... I dunno what happen, checked and .. while I was in the clinic, my partner asked if I can get my cousin to go to our office and check one of the computer. I called and after clinic, I went to office straight and my cousin arrive 30 minutes later and certified that, the computer's hard disk most likely damanged. As the computer belongs to our important account clerk, I therefore suggested that she uses my Acer laptop which needed an external keyboard to function. I did suspect that it might not be stable, but there's no other choice and so, ... we install the accounting software into the computer and hand it to my account clerk. Just when I sat down to start my computer, I then realise the internet wasn't working too. I made a call to the Telekom and a report was lodged. As I was about to leave my office around 4:30pm, my clerk told me that my Acer acted weirdly and I took it to my cousin and... yes.. it's certified MOTHERBOARD dead... and so, yes.. if anyone of you need a sparepark from Acer 4152 series, call me. hahaha....
This morning, as I reached my office, I realise our newly installed alarm system door was not functioning. Not only that, the internet is still down. At about 10:30 am, my cousin brought the computer back and we thank God that all data were recovered. I finally saw my account clerk putting a smile on her face. When we thought everything is 'fixed', our phone went off... with no ring tone... and later by the time I finish drafting an agreement, goodness... I failed to print it out. Out of frustration, I left my office...
These 2 days.. just like a WAR... goodness....!!!!
And yes... I am still suffering from this 'pain' on the lump that occured since Saturday. Will see if the medicine is working for anothe 2 days. If not, guess I need to go for a second check since I am leaving next week. hai...
Speaking for leaving for England... so many things which has not been done yet. Pray for us...

Well...

I was just about to leave for a lunch which only set at around 12pm. I thought nothing will disturb my precious lunch time but just before I left my office room, my partner came in and asked if I am willing to stand-in a court matter for a lawyer which happen to be away. She did asked for someone else to stand-in for her, but that someone only told her that she's not able to stand in for her. The court will be in session in 1 1/2 hours time and I was sure she was desperatedly needed someone and ... I was also sure that, no one else will want to stand-in for her. So, I ended up have to cancel my lunch appointment (sorry, CL) and I rushed home to get myself changed into the court attire, ate something and to the court. For about 1 hour I was there (waiting and thank God I manage to get other matters' date sorted too), I was reading her case and spoke to the other side of the lawyer and only about 3pm, the interpreter of the Judge came in and told us that our matter is postponed to tomorrow morning at 9am. Interestingly... for a minimal cost, I get to charged the lawyer twice which I consider, a blessing! hahaha...
Yes.. tomorrow morning, I need to attend court AGAIN... 3 days in a role.. isn't that nice? And yes, for those who prayed for me yesterday, I got one of my hearing date changed to 24th June instead of 25the June. Praise the Lord! and thanks for praying...

A lawyer's struggles...

Not many understand what a lawyer do. What people do know is that, lawyer goes to Court and that's all. This wrong mindset of course caused by the Hong Kong series and/or other law related series that didn't show much in details about what a lawyer need to do in their job. Wrong preceptions hence was wrongly placed in the mindset of almost everyone arounds me... including my brother and sometimes, my mother too. Well, I am not saying all as I do know some people did took efforts to understand.
More misunderstanding arose to people like me, a partner in a law firm, where almost everyone thought, I am the boss and therefore, I am A BOSS. None or shall I say, only a few would be able to understand what does a Partner means, especially in my shoe. To many, being a partner (one of the boss) in a law firm, will be like a boss in any business industries. (I am amazed of how people's mind can be that narrow). People expect a partner to be able to take leaves any time they want, can earn more income than anyone else, can have flexible time... etc. etc. (just like a boss in any business industries). But never did a person think properly of what a partner should do or rather what a partner/lawyer do.
Often, people misunderstood me and seriously, it has become a 'pain' lately. People think lawyer/partner is earning a lot and therefore, they do not need to be support for in terms of financial and I ended up, have to struggles through every single moment. I still remember there was once when I just started to work and my grandmother was in critical condition where my asked if both my brother and I can come back home to pay my grandmother a last visit. Without thinking, I agreed I should as I have been away from home for quite some time then. My brother came back upon being urged and of course at the end, he too felt, it's necessary. After the funeral, 2 out of 3 of us who took the efforts to come back received financial support and the lawyer, i.e. me, gets nothing as everyone thought that the lawyer should be able to take care of herself. Not only this particular of incident, there are lots more.
No one seems to understand what I am going through most of the time and it seems like even my parents demand that I take care of them (well, it is my responsibility no doubt) alone and not my brother (although my brother has been good as a son too). But the feeling of being left alone to take care and struggles all by myself alone... is kind of 'heart-aching' if you get what I mean. No one seems to understand how tough my life is for the past few years. It is easier for anyone else to take leaves instead of me as what you need to do is just to apply for it and you will get it. Works? Accountability to your clients? Billing? Collecting fees? Expenses? You just don't need to bother when you are in your sweet holiday. As for me, as a lawyer/partner, I have to plan ahead. I need to get as many things done as possible as others won't understand what deal I have with my clients. I can't ask my clerk to draft cause papers or do research. I bet you don't want that kind fo service too if you need a help from a lawyer. Yes?
A lawyer, besides meeting clients, getting businesses, we too need to sign documents, we need to do research. we need to draft cause papers, we need to do filing, we need to attend court and our time, all relied on the court diary instead of our own schedules and we too, need to prepare ourselves before the hearing and/or trial. Trust me, a Trial is more than a presentation or a research thesis that you did for your degree and/or your master degree. May be one trial around one of your PhD thesis/research, which it usually took you a year or 3 to finish. As for lawyer like us who goes to court, we need to finish a research less than a year and even before filing some of our cause papers.
So, don't think that I only need to presence in court for my hearing and/or trial. It's more than that. If I tell you I have court tomorrow, it does mean, I probably struggles through it since a week ago already.
Oh well... what can I say? I have been bearing all these misunderstanding all these while and I am seriously tired now.

Those days...

Yesterday evening, I had the opportunity to attend the 1st All Saints' Music Academy concert night. It's great! Saw many young people tried very hard in their performance. That has reminded me one 1 or 2 occasions where I was to performed too during my Grade one or two at my teacher's place (St.Patrick's Church rectory). I remember we did the invitation card, we select songs to perform, we organise food and drinks, etc. etc. I was only 12 and 13 years old then and was regarded as the 'little girl' at all time by those who were at higher grade. Everyone of us got the chance to perform and we were allowed to invite 2 guests of our choice besides our parents. It's seriously fun. When I saw the first 2 children who played the piano last night, I was telling my friends beside me, that when I was at their age, because of my 'size', I need a stool to lay my feet when I performed. hahahaha....
The most fun part was that my piano teacher was also there last night. The different between our concert and last night's was of course, we all performed a piano pieces, be it solo or duet but last night, most of them played other instruments and in the form of band. I must say, last night was good, but I wish there's more piano pieces performances. Oh well... what a memory it brings...

Migraine!

It never cross my mind that I will suffer such a terrible headache as from birth, I seldom suffer headache. If you ask me, I wouldn't be able to tell you what a person will feel when he/she has a headache. BOOM! Yesterday, after I drafted an agreement (actually I think I drafted it half way), I left office to go home thinking I should be ok after a nap. But it was so severe till I couldn't even get to sleep and not only that, couldn't stand, couldn't do anything and couldn't even think. I did managed to sleep for a while (on and off) until DY called and only after spoken to her than I realise I most probably suffering migraine. GOODNESS!!!!
The worse thing is, ... it last... for hours ... and I was not being able to sleep until 3am. I hate that kind of 'wasting of time' matters arose out of no where...

Unwell...

I noted that a friend of mine was unwell lately and we prayed for her during our cell group meeting last night. Today, I am feeling a bit of unwell. First, when I woke up, my stomach wasn't well and I remember waking up a few times last night too. I know I am physically tired and I need sleeps but unfortunately, I wasn't able to sleep last night. So, after drafting an agreement now, my eyes' killing me and this pain above my eyes (may be my head) is killing me. I guess I shall go home and rest soon.
While I was drafting the agreement, my clerk sent me a message through MSN asked me to go and buy food. Guess she is kind of know my style lately that I will need to finish work once I started it and I will forget about my lunch. hahahaha...
Anyway, It's either the computer or the lack of sleep. I really need a rest now. ...

Empty

My brain is empty! Simply because I didn't manage to take a cup of coffee this morning...
I was rushing for 2 pieces of works since 12:00pm and I only manage to finish it by 1:30pm for clients to sign the documents, etc. When they came back from lunch at around 1:30pm, I hasn't got everything done and so I asked one my colleague (she just came back from lunch) to help me while I entertain my clients. Everything was only done around 2:30pm. After I get everything done, and handed everything to another colleague of mine, I can feel that, my stomach is empty and only then I realise, I have skipped my lunch and I need to get something into my stomach.
After my lunch, I worked on my budget and account and did some payment and only then I realise, how 'empty' my account is now a day. hahahaha...
I seached my heart lately ... and I too found that, it's quite 'empty'. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying it doesn't have love, it doesn't have compassion, passions, etc, etc... what I am saying is that, I suddenly feel ... what can I say? ... 'empty'. Hmm...

Give thanks...

Someone reminded me that I should give thanks to the Lord as I do have my expenses covered for this month and next month (subject to clients pay up). God has blessed me well I should say, although I was robbed by one of the client (he ran away without paying our fees). I hand them to the Lord and let God deal with them in the matter. They have robbed the children of God, they should be afraid of the punishment, if any. Well, yes... thank you, Lord for everything!

Holiday...

I always wanted a good holiday. I was hoping for one on the last long weekend, but ... unfortunately, somehow, I was stucked in KK. hahahaha...

However, I did manage to visit the KDCA for the first time and have a look of why it caused such a traffic jam at its entrance for 2 days. hahaha....

Well, it's fun though....

It's nice, right? ... hahaha.... oh well, too many photos to show... so... may be another time lah. ...
