It was the office environment that allowed me to be able to had an online chatting with a friend in China. She was complaining about not being able to adopt to the Chinese culture and she will not compromise to it. I was curious of what sorts of Chinese culture that she was referring to as it should not be too difficult for a Malaysian Chinese. After much dicussion, I was confused by the term "culture". So, yes. I was pondering of the meaning of "culture" ever since the question posted in my head.
Here is what I got so far:
CULTURE:
The totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought.
These patterns, traits, and products considered as the expression of a particular period, class, community, or population: Edwardian culture; Japanese culture; the culture of poverty.
These patterns, traits, and products considered with respect to a particular category, such as a field, subject, or mode of expression: religious culture in the Middle Ages; musical culture; oral culture.
The predominating attitudes and behavior that characterize the functioning of a group or organization.
Intellectual and artistic activity and the works produced by it.
Development of the intellect through training or education.
Enlightenment resulting from such training or education.

Special training and development: voice culture for singers and actors.

Such a growth or colony, as of bacteria.

Therefore, I am making the conclusion of the meaning of "culture" as follows:
1. Going to Pub after work is one of the English culture.
2. Gambling during Chinese New Year is one of the Chinese culture.
3. Drink chinese tea is one of the Chinese culture.
4. Go for walking during Bank Holidays in England is one of the English culture.
5. Go for holiday once a year is one of the English culture.
However, it is important to distinguish between "culture" and "bad behaviour".
