Expectation?

I am not sure what's your expectation towards your lawyer... some would respect a lawyer, some think a lawyer is just a normal person and some, just think they are to do whatever you ask them to. I happen to meet all 3 kinds of those stated above and I have no problem being everybody's friends who seek for legal advice. Some think lawyer can give advice by just telling them a 'story'. Some think lawyer is to solve their problem. I don't deny the fact that a lawyer's job is to solve people's PROBLEM.
I had a good chat with a potential client this morning. Potential because he walked in with a client of mine, asking me about a problem he faces and of course even though they asked me to issue a letter on behalf I see no point of receiving such 'profit' at this point of time. Hence, I ask them to try issuing a letter themselves first and I can tell you, this potential client respect me of who I am, even though he is a big boss.
Some client like Mr. A... whom has pushed me to the end of the edge... to the point I have to really raise my voice when I speak to his secretary. I am not so sure if his secretary or him that I hate about, but I hate all the 'smart idea' pushed to me. i.e. We tried to serve a Subpoena to witness B last week and upon serving to witness B, I received a letter yesterday telling me that witness B cannot attend court as he will be away for an international conference from today until 14 of August 2009. Upon receiving such letter, I have written a letter to the Court seeking for his direction on this matter yesterday. The suprise was... Mr. A's secretary called, asking me if we can issue a warrant of arrest to witness B to make sure that he comes to Court next week. I am no police I told him and only the Court will grant warrant of arrest. I can't do anything about it. Mr. A's secretary told me, Mr. A said it can be done. I told her I have never done this before and I don't think I wanna do this. She continue to said, Mr. A said it can be done ask me to do it. I told her again that I never said it can be done. If he think it can be done, he can do it himself. I told her all I can do was to write to the Court to ask for direction. She doesn't seems to understand.... and insisted that I can issue a warrant to the witness.
Seriously... I just don't like this case and I really want this case to be over and done with and never wanted to see Mr. A and his secretary anymore. Be it they pay me a larger sum... I will still say NO.

Yo!

It was tiring... and my broken ankle has caused me almost not being able to stand.... , sweats and humidity was almost unbearable... , not much of a shopping ... but we had really good experience of food... of fellowship, of ... holiday... of a short moment of lost of memory of what our work and profession is.... It's nice to be able to catch up with close relatives... and friends... nice to be able to joke all the way.... etc. Good rest? Hmm... may be REST is not the right word... but I had a good time...

Little Blue!

In case you do not know what 'little blue' is in accordance to the GodlyLawyer's dictionary.... it's my car.... the one who was born in 2004 which means.. it's turning to 6 in October this year. Ghoosh... it has been serving me faithfully for the past 5 years and it is still faithfully serving me... It doesn't cause me any 'heartbreak' nor pain with the fuel hike or not.... because it is susch a wonderful car, low fuel consumption and it's just a brilliant car... !

Just like a normal day, I woke up, got myself ready, took all my files and laptop and lunchbox and water with me to the car and I started the car with no problem, went out, close the gate and while I was about 5 minutes away from my apartment, the car engine suddenly stopped. I checked the lights, the battery and I realised... it has nothing to do with battery. At least the sound of the engine doesn't sounds like it's something to do with water and battery. Since I was holding the break, I released the break and let the car goes backward a bit and I realise, there's 'oil' on the floor. I got down my car, checked the 'oil' out (with my nose) and I realise, it's the petrol...

Took my phone, called someone for help. After that, I got someone to help me to push little blue back to the apartment and I went back to my apartment... My help came after 45 minutes of waiting and upon checking, they started their repair right at the car park... 40 minutes later, I noted they are trying to get all the gadgets back to their car and I know, little blue is fixed. Yes.. it's fixed... except, the strong smells of petrol has filled the car so terribly that I almost fell asleep while driving... (even though I didn't switch on my air con and opened the windows).
Oh well... upon reaching office, I realise, little blue was recently being secured with few 'parking space' as some of the side parking space was labelled "For Small Car Only" and obvioiusly... little blue is in that category... how nice!

Selfish? Focus on own interest?

I am not saying it's wrong... I am saying... it could somehow bring the following consequences to yourself and others when it is practiced: -
(a) Inconvenient to others;
(b) Sacrifies others;
(c) Upset others;
(d) Unhappiness to others;
(e) Wasting of time;
(f) Possible hatred;
(g) Hurt (physical and emotional and relationship);
(h) Break down of relationship;
(i) Not being able to love;
(j) Not being able to be loved in future;
(k) Anger;
(l) Giving up;
(m) Acted violently;
(n) Insanity;
(o) Stress;
(p) .
(q) .
(r) .
The list goes on. However, the one acted selfishly towards another, will not know how much the other party is suffering. Generally, they will be happy as long as they manage to voice out what they want and the consequences, they got what they want. Others' feeling? Come on... not my matter. That's what the selfish one will say. If the other party reacted either one as listed in the list, it's because they do not know how to handle their emotions, they are not mature enough and so on.... that's what the selfish one opined. And yes... normally ... somehow, the selfish one will have the thinking that whatever they do, is certainly 100% correct. If other is not agreeable to whatever they says, they are wrong and they gets the sour face, anger, or whatever from the other selfish one.
I am not asking for more. All I am asking is, try... at least try... to put yourself into other's shoes and be a little bit considerate. Be it you are right, you think you are right or you are VERY right... try to find the 'balance point'. Would you?
