I was on my way to Tanjung Aru this morning and when I reached the traffic light junction between Tanjung Aru and the Town, I saw the traffic lights went off. Power cut off and then, immediately, I saw people, selfish people trying to make their way by their own selfish efforts. Hence, all the cars stucked in the middle of the junction and none of them able to move. Obviously, their selfish ambitious has caused not only them, but EVERYONE else stucked in the traffic. Then I recalled ... time when I was young. I remember Tawau has not many traffic lights junction then... and I think one of the oldest one is in town where everyone couldn't have possibly missed when they are to go down to town centre. Tawau is a small town and when I was younger, obviously, the town was even smaller and people basically knows everyone else well. Mind you, Tawau always suffer electricity cut off ( I don't recall any time during my life time that Tawau has not having electricity problem). Hence, traffic lights always goes off. The amazing thing was, people in Tawau then has really good manners. We follow our turns. After the right side's cars gone, then, it's our turn and after our turn, the left side's cars will start turning and without traffic police, we managed well. TODAY?.... goodness... even with the traffic police around (I think he really risk his life standing in the middle), people can still trying to cut the line. I saw a car this morning, ran with at least 40km/hour to be the first car in front and keep on showing others and the traffic police that he is urgent and he needs his turn right away. I wonder... what happen these days? Why can't we be like when I was younger? Is there a "WE" here? or just "ME"? ... Mind you, I was rushing too this morning ... and I am sure, the rest too as it's around 7am. Everyone is on their ways to work. So, what's the hurry? Why YOU?
