I am a 70' baby. I grew up from playing with trees, sands, kites, or natural things we can see or touch. I grew up not having a lots of toys. No Barbie dolls during my time. The best craving I ever had when I was young was bubble gum, those where you can really blow a big balloon with your mouth. Knowing how to ride a bicycle is nothing great as it's one of the transportation for everyone, and not a sport equipment nor a toy. It's a necessity. I grew up under the tight teaching and supervision of my parents who very much influenced by English and Australia cultures. They were both under the English education while the British were still in North Borneo.
Courtesy and table manners and general manners are very strict at home. I have to sit properly even at home. I have to dress appropriately even at home. I have to greet people when I see them, doesn't matter whether I was in fear or not, know the person or not. It's just part of the manner, I need to be good and well mannered.
So, being in Girls' Brigade and being a lawyers and to have to keep up with all the manners, rules, regulations, etc, it's never a problem for me because I lives like that anyway. I always thought the Court, the Judge are some place/people that I always need to respect because we are talking about upholding the justice when our minds draws to Court and Judges. However, as I prepare for the trial fixed for this morning, I never expect any adjournment. Especially when they didn't reply my letter and still fixed the trial date to 28.02.2013, I expect no adjournment. Arrangement was made with my witnesses and we were ready to trial.
Just when I checked who should I appear to this morning, I noticed that 28.02.2013 were no longer being fixed for trial. I wasn't being informed. Not by any letter nor email and I was very angry. Because it seems like my opponent made the request (with no letter given to me as reference) and the judge had agreed to adjourn the trial to another date. Where's the courtesy?
Where's the courtesy for my opponent to inform me that he wants an adjournment? Where's the courtesy from the Court to inform me earlier before my witnesses travel from Labuan to KK? Where's the courtesy from the Court to give me a notice of adjournment? Has this world gone to be NO courtesy needed now a day? So, we ought to find out everything ourselves these days? I find it very hard when it comes from the Court.
This world has become so difficult to lives with. Not only that there's no trust and respect between people, courtesy is also not being practise these days. It's sad how this world has become. Worse still, people are just suing another when they are not satisfy with certain way a person is handling things. I still go with confronting and discussing the matters with the person first before taking them to court. But these days, people just disregard the confrontation. They made it public. They told the public without finding out the TRUTH first.
This world is getting ... less 'humane' I would say.
I am find it difficult to lives a balance life these days..... SERIOUSLY!
