I am a 70' baby.  I grew up from playing with trees, sands, kites, or natural things we can see or touch.  I grew up not having a lots of toys.  No Barbie dolls during my time.  The best craving I ever had when I was young was bubble gum, those where you can really blow a big balloon with your mouth.  Knowing how to ride a bicycle is nothing great as it's one of the transportation for everyone, and not a sport equipment nor a toy.  It's a necessity.  I grew up under the tight teaching and supervision of my parents who very much influenced by English and Australia cultures.  They were both under the English education while the British were still in North Borneo.
Courtesy and table manners and general manners are very strict at home.  I have to sit properly even at home. I have to dress appropriately even at home.  I have to greet people when I see them, doesn't matter whether I was in fear or not, know the person or not.  It's just part of the manner, I need to be good and well mannered.
So, being in Girls' Brigade and being a lawyers and to have to keep up with all the manners, rules, regulations, etc, it's never a problem for me because I lives like that anyway.  I always thought the Court, the Judge are some place/people that I always need to respect because we are talking about upholding the justice when our minds draws to Court and Judges.  However, as I prepare for the trial fixed for this morning, I never expect any adjournment.  Especially when they didn't reply my letter and still fixed the trial date to 28.02.2013, I expect no adjournment.  Arrangement was made with my witnesses and we were ready to trial.
Just when I checked who should I appear to this morning, I noticed that 28.02.2013 were no longer being fixed for trial.  I wasn't being informed.  Not by any letter nor email and I was very angry.  Because it seems like my opponent made the request (with no letter given to me as reference) and the judge had agreed to adjourn the trial to another date.  Where's the courtesy?
Where's the courtesy for my opponent to inform me that he wants an adjournment? Where's the courtesy from the Court to inform me earlier before my witnesses travel from Labuan to KK? Where's the courtesy from the Court to give me a notice of adjournment? Has this world gone to be NO courtesy needed now a day? So, we ought to find out everything ourselves these days? I find it very hard when it comes from the Court.
This world has become so difficult to lives with.  Not only that there's no trust and respect between people, courtesy is also not being practise these days.  It's sad how this world has become.  Worse still, people are just suing another when they are not satisfy with certain way a person is handling things.  I still go with confronting and discussing the matters with the person first before taking them to court.  But these days, people just disregard the confrontation.  They made it public.  They told the public without finding out the TRUTH first.
This world is getting ... less 'humane' I would say.
I am find it difficult to lives a balance life these days..... SERIOUSLY!

Conflicts....

In this business world, there's a lot of chances that we will be subject / face a conflicts because of different point of view on certain things.  For as long as I remember, over the years, whenever I talk about my work, none.  I repeat, NONE understand what I am talking about.  No matter how simple I tried to put it and to how 'lay' can it be to lay people, I am like talking to a cow.  My parents never ask me about my job because I will end up with frustration and I will end up being so lazy to answer and just mumble a few words and told them, "don't bother me".
But I guess my mom has been too lonely and has nothing much to do these days and she does ask about what I do.  Since I have many trials in Tawau last year end, she started to know that I go to court for 'trials' and she always aske me what I do in trials.  Although it's not exactly what the HK series shown, I will just have to answer to her that it's just like that on the TV.  Of course, it's frustrated to talk to a cow. hehe.. and so, I usually says, "it's ok. let's not talk about work.  I am tired". hehe... or i know she just wanted to know more, so i just changed topics. hehehe..... occasionally, i will filled her up with some 'interesting' stories in the court so we all can laugh at. She's amazed to find out about at least 20 couples get divorce every Friday in KK.  hahaha.. yeah, my mom still think divorce is a shameful thing, but she never get shocked to heard a friend of mine or whoever we knows are getting divorce though. hahahahaha.....
Ok.  Let's get back to the conflicts I want to tell you about.  It is about how much people knows what lawyer do for them when they appoint them.  Many thoughts, I engaged a lawyers, paid for the legal fees and they are suppose to handle my matter and finish it fast.  Problem is, if it is a straight forward matter, yes, it will finish fast.  But if it not, it will take some times.  And when you have involve a loan and many other lawyers for different things, it will be more complicated.  There's always competition between banks.  So, if your banks and the other party's bank are not the same bank, do expect a hiccup somewhere, be it on your redemption statement, the undertaking, etc.  Believe me, none of the lawyers in this world want to hold on to your case for more than 4 months, especially with the little legal fees we charge you and it's not beneficial to the lawyers in any way either.  So, if you push your lawyers further to ignore the undertaking nor whatever else to speed up the process, don't sue your lawyer at the end of the day if anything wrong happen.
If you ask me if i would rather to be scolded by your for slowness due to banks or being sue by you at the end, i will choose the former.  That's exactly what I did for my uncle's matter and he got so upset about the slowness, etc.  and I get scolded like a wet dog under a heavy rain.  He is still not looking at me in the eyes even though the matter has been ended since January.  If you ask me, is it fun to be a lawyer?
I can really tell you, the first criteria and requirement one needs to have in order to become a really good lawyer is knowing how to have conflicts with others and start arguing non stop.  Damn! That's exactly what I don't like.  I hates having conflicts with others.  Especially when I get blamed and accused for things not of my fault? Bloody hell, that make me feel so upset.

Birthday 2013

It's the most quiet birthday I ever had.  With all the pains and suffering.... I did however had a wonderful night on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year (12 Feb 2013) at Eva's place, first time in my lie putting up a 'kong ming deng' and we went to our 3rd day of Chinese new year regular place (Marco Polo Hotel) to celebrate my birthday; I also attended a grandma's 70 years old birthday celebration on the 4th day of Chinese New Year (my Chinese birthday, 13th Feb 2013), thereafter, spent the whole day on 14th Feb 2013 at home, resting.  Mom noted my frustration and tiredness due to lack of sleep for 2 weeks by then due to the pains....
Well, just when I was recovering (seriously no idea what's wrong), I was about to pack and leave home (10 days holiday is gone).  I thought I won't have any celebration, but just when I was departing Tawau, 2 dear friends called and asked for lunch.  Birthday lunch at a fine dining. wow... and so, both my lunch and dinner were covered by the scrumptious and fantastic food.  The day after, there's this fellowship / gathering / party / open house that's organised by myself at my condominium pool side.  A total of 40 people came and we have lots and lots of food.... including a BBQ Lamb which we all really enjoyed but can't finish. hahaha... amazingly, none took a single photo that night. hahaha...
Then, the following day, VT and SM came to had another big round of LAMB at my place.  Again, I was given a cake and gift.  The whole week thereafter, I receive greeting everywhere, or rather, 'belated' greetings. hahahaha.... and I just realised last night that many posted their greeting on my other FB which I had deactivated years ago (no idea how come it's activated again).
Today, rather.... last night, I have decided to get myself a birthday gift which I was thinking of getting for MONTHS now.  Yes, I finally got myself a Mont Blank pen....
So, yes.... Happy Birthday, theGodlyLawyer.....
